2010 Fitness Fair & Fun Run Sponsorship

We are asking for your support in helping raise community awareness around the important issue of childhood obesity prevention. The Kitsap County Medical Society Foundation is pleased to offer Kitsap County a fitness and nutrition program to be implemented in all five Kitsap County school districts and many private schools that will culminate on Sunday, May 31st at the fifth annual Kitsap Family Fun Run and Fitness Fair held at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion on the Fairgrounds.
Last year KCMS Foundation completed the expansion of our Marathon Mileage Fitness and Nutrition program to include all five Kitsap County school districts and many private schools. The culminating event (the 2008 Fun Run and Fitness Fair) was a great success with over 900 participants, more than doubling participation from 2007.
This year our school outreach continues and we expect even greater participation from the 20,000+ students to whom our program is available! In this fourth year of our program, we are expanding our nutrition component. Besides the nutrition log sheet and token rewards we offer, we have a primary grade curriculum available through the Kitsap County Health District and a 5th 12th DVD series available from CHEF (Comprehensive Health Education Foundation). Additionally we are partnering with the dietary department at Harrison Medical Center to offer outreach and information to interested PE and/or classroom teachers.
We are thrilled to once again hold this year's event at Kitsap Sun Pavilion at the Fairgrounds and anticipate 1,000+ participants. This venue accommodates a large number of participants and observers as well as many activity booths for our fitness fair which in the past has included yoga, massage, martial arts, gymnastics, blood pressure readings, and nutrition/health information and products. We continue to focus on family and community fitness. Along with race goodie bags, there will be raffle prizes throughout the fair. Our message is that fitness is fun! Logos need to be received by Monday, May 4, in order to be printed on the t-shirt. Goodie bag materials* must be received by Friday, May 22, to be guaranteed a place in the run bag. We are also accepting donations of single items to be used as raffle prizes. Kitsap County Medical Society Foundation (a 501(c)(3) organization) is the philanthropic arm of the Kitsap County Medical Society. Our stated mission is to promote the health and education of our community and physicians, and to support charitable activities in Kitsap County.
